Senior IT Business Analyst - Support Services (Remote Opportunity)

The Senior IT Business Analyst engages with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, validate, and document requirements (business, functional, data and reporting requirements) for new information systems and system modifications. Requirements documented by the Senior IT BA serve to inform solution technical designs and specifications. The role acts as a liaison, between business owners and internal and external technology partners to ensure that solution designs satisfy requirements.

 

The Senior IT Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for developing strong cross functional relationships with IT partners, system end users and stakeholders. They work collaboratively with end users to execute analysis of business requests and to develop well-defined, documented requirements. The Senior IT BA does this through a solid understanding of the business and technical domains they support and by demonstrating excellent communication, negotiation, and meeting facilitation skills.

 

This role requires the ability to facilitate discussions and enable participants to articulate their thoughts and ideas. The Senior IT BA is an experienced professional who applies their communication and business process skills to successfully engage and elicit information from diverse audiences and varied experience levels, including executives. They demonstrate strong listening, problem-solving, influencing, and critical-thinking skills. A successful Senior IT BA is expected to proactively navigate and overcome limited information and ambiguity.

 

The Senior IT BA also supports end user acceptance testing (UAT) by writing test scripts, mapping requirements to test cases, executing tests, and verifying desired functionality changes. This role may additionally collaborate with Training and Organizational Change Management regarding end user, training documentation, and change impacts stemming from projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Elicit and document business, data and functional requirements for new solutions and for enhancements/changes to existing solutions.
  • Collaborate with Architecture and technical partners to ensure that business requirements effectively inform technical solution specifications and designs.
  • Provide input into solution design, architecture, testing, and data management discussions and validate that final solutions meet business requirements.
  • Create business value stream maps and analyze business processes to find efficiencies.
  • Facilitate business process reviews to determine where automation and process improvements could enhance efficiency.
  • Work with end users on business process redesign to support solution/project value realization.
  • Support business in executing functional configuration tasks.
  • Support IT Delivery Manager by serving as an additional business point of contact pertaining to technology acquisitions, implementations, system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by writing test scripts, mapping requirements to test scripts and executing tests to validate that desired functionality works as expected.
  • Review test plans and test results while maintaining traceability of end user requirements.
  • Partner with IT Delivery Manager and business to develop/update multi-year technology roadmaps, while considering business strategy, current systems’ capabilities and future needs.
  • Collaborate with Training and Organizational Change Management teams to produce end user training documentation and help facilitate training sessions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in a business, information systems or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience in progressive IT related roles; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, required.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Visio.
  • Advanced systems/process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, organization skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently elicit and document detailed business, data, and functional requirements.
  • Exceptional process mapping and analysis skills. Ability to take complex processes and document into understandable artifacts.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functionally without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with business and IT partners across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong meeting facilitation and presentation skills. Ability to manage requirements and scope discussions as well as facilitate large groups (in person or virtually).
  • Skilled at stakeholder management (setting and managing expectations).
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize time and tasks across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Initiative to research and learn new concepts, ideas, and technologies quickly.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, responding to changing priorities with efficiency, and ease.
  • Respectful, approachable and team oriented.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • IIBA certifications BABOK, CCBA or CBAP highly desired.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification highly desired.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time, dependent on various projects.
