Your Opportunity

Performs and/or Directs the safe and effective application of lagoon effluent to maintain system at manageable levels. Coordinates efforts of Land Application personnel consisting of multiple crews and custom applicators. Performs any combination of the following tasks to ensure compliance, reduce liability, maintain grounds and complete special projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Interprets company policy and specifications to workers and contractors
  • Works safely, enforces safe work environment and ensures all under their supervision follow all safety regulations
  • Oversees and/or operates of application equipment in accordance with SOP’s, State regulations and training guides
  • Supervises and assign daily activities of multiple fulltime associates and custom applicators
  • Ensure maintenance of land application equipment is completed and documented in a timely fashion
  • Maintains required State and Company certifications
  • Ensure all sampling is completed and submitted in a timely and accurate method
  • Ensure all reports and field notebooks are completed and submitted in a timely and accurate method
  • Ensure proper and timely completion of work orders for assigned area
  • Maintains copies of documents on the farm to ensure that all EMS, MDNR and Company requirements are met
  • Abide biosecurity SOPs.
  • Train and develop employees
  • Develops, submits, implements and carries out approved farm plan
  • Participate in and supervise special projects as assigned.

  • A High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination are required. 
  • Candidates must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups.
  • Knowledge of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing software and email is required. 
  • The qualified candidate is required to have A level CAFO certification or have passed the exam. 
  • A valid drivers’ license is required. 
  • Class D Wastewater certification and Class A CDL are preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises employees in the Land Nutrient Management department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
