AUGUST AND NASCAR KICK OFF TAILGATING SEASON

For fans of NASCAR and many other sports, tailgating is a time to gather with friends and family for some good food and fan camaraderie.  Whether you’ve never tailgated before, or have your own top-secret barbeque recipe, we’ve got a couple tips to help you plan the perfect race or game day:

s Tip 1

1. Make a stand out spot

Directions to a tailgate can easily get confusing amongst merchandising stalls and other sports fans, so make your area easy to find with a marker such as a sign or flag.

2. Plan your food in advance

Shopping ahead is simple with a recipe in mind. We love grill staples such as our recipe for Honey Pork Tenderloin Kabobs

3. Fingers and bowls

When chatting with friends, big plates can get in the way. Chili, soups, and veggies are simple options that allow guest to focus on conversation instead of spills.

4. Find a way to give back:

Smithfield Foods’ Hungry Homes Initiative has established a winning team in fighting hunger by partnering with racing legends Richard Petty Motorsports and Aric Almeria. Helping Hungry Homes benefits families across the US by donating protein to food banks across the nation.  Join us in fighting hunger by asking guests to bring a canned good along to your event, a small effort which can make a big difference to local communities.
